The Story Behind Lazy Piercer
Hi, I am Gaurav, though most people in the piercing world know me as Lazy Piercer . The name is casual on purpose. The work behind it is anything but. What started as one chair in a tattoo studio in 2013 has grown into what clients across the city now call the best piercing shop in Delhi — and one of the few places in India where the craft is taught the way it should be.
I was born in New Delhi into a middle-class business family. Business was always the plan, it runs in the blood. But life had other plans for me.
I was sent to a boarding school in Nainital, where the hills did most of the teaching. Those years gave me more than marks on a report card. The teachers there drilled in things you cannot learn from a textbook: discipline, patience, and how to keep your head down and do the work. I did not know it then, but those lessons would later become the foundation of how I run my studio.
By 2008 I had finished college and stepped into the family business, like I was supposed to. The numbers, the routine, the same conversations every day — it just did not fit. I tried to make it fit for a while, then I walked away.
I sold inverters. I worked in real estate. I picked up whatever came my way. None of it stuck. I felt like I was renting time in someone else's life.
Then one afternoon, I overheard a conversation about a tattoo someone was planning to get. Something about the way they spoke — the meaning, the permanence, the craft — pulled me in. For the first time in years, I was curious about a job.
I started training under a well-known tattoo artist in Delhi. He did not just teach me how to hold a machine. He showed me how to talk to a client, how to set up a workspace, and how to respect the skin you are working on.
In a few years I opened my first studio, Tattoosphere Tattoo Studio, in East Delhi. People started walking in, then coming back, then sending their friends. The studio quietly became home.
But the next chapter found me by accident.
Clients kept asking, "Do you do piercings too?" I did not. But I could not keep saying no.
So I taught myself. Slowly. I started with the basics — lobes, nostrils — and treated every appointment like a workshop. I read everything I could find, watched the best in the world, and tested every claim on myself first. There was no shortcut, just hours and repetition and listening to what the skin was telling me.
By 2013, piercing had stopped being a side service. It had become the work I actually wanted to do.
The name Lazy Piercer started as a joke between friends. I was the guy who never wanted to rush a procedure — taking my time with marking, with placement, with the conversation before the needle. Someone called me lazy for it, and the name stuck.
Over time, clients started using it as a compliment. They liked that nothing felt hurried. They liked that I would rather lose a booking than do a placement I was not happy with. The name became the brand because it told the truth: slow, careful piercing is the only kind I am willing to do.
Piercing has given me more than a career. It gave me a clear answer to the question I spent my twenties asking — what is mine to do.

- Carry a valid government ID — this is non-negotiable, especially for any intimate piercing.
- Skip alcohol and blood thinners for 24 hours before the appointment. Both thin the blood and slow healing.
- Eat a proper meal an hour or two before — an empty stomach is the most common cause of feeling faint during a piercing.
- Tell us about allergies or medication in advance so we can pick the right jewellery and approach.
- Bring at most one companion — the studio is intentionally calm, and crowds change the energy.
